Sugar maple is over 100 years old. Hemlock to rear right is
approximately 90 years old. House built c. 1850.
Approaching the house from the main road, which is
7/10ths of a mile distant. Lane ends at the driveway. Years
ago it went up through the woods beyond the parked car.
The lane had to use a "switchback" in order to traverse the
two step ridge. See map 2 on page one of the Introduction.
